Turn It Up Tuesday!

Here’s a little Rockabilly Swing from The Brian Setzer Orchestra

You might recall Brian from his time in The Stray Cats. Truth to be told, I wasn’t much of a fan of The Stray Cats back in the day. However, as the years have passed I have developed an appreciation of some rockabilly stuff (and I’ve always enjoyed big band swing music).

Brian puts on a very entertaining, high-energy show.

Enjoy, and turn it up!

Funny you post this today. I just recently received a new DVD from Jeff Beck called Rock n Roll Party and on this DVD he really puts out the rockabilly stuff. Brian Setzer even sits in for a number.

I, like you have only recently come around to appreciating the rockabilly genre and it isn’t so entrenched in my listening desires that I’ll go out and seek it. It is fun stuff though when you just want a break from all the seriousness in the world today.

Paul Rodgers did a Muddy Waters tribute CD a while back and Beck and Setzer played on a couple of tunes, as did David Gilmour, Slash, Steve Miller and that dude who played guitar with YES after Steve Howe left (Trevor Rabin).

Setzer kills it on one particular cut. He plays almost heavy rock guitar and lights that old Waters tune right up.

Bill, that Muddy Waters Tribute CD is a favorite to get the party started. Setzer does a hella job on it. Have seen The StrayCats live, and they deliver a great experience. I think it was close to Christmas, so had some Holiday tunes mixed in. Fun evening for sure.
