Turn It Up Tuesday!

May 31, 2011 by esarsea

Here’s 3 generous helpings of that Seattle Sound as served up by Queensryche, taken from their outstanding 1990 album Empire. The production value of this record is second to none, with pulse-quickening clarity and subtle yet sustained power.

Queensryche is fronted by Geoff Tate, who according to Wiki is ranked 14th on Hit Parader‘s list of the 100 Greatest Metal Vocalists of All Time, and listed as the 12th greatest male vocalist in the rock genre by Digital Dream Door. Personally, I might rate him even higher than that.

You can pick up a copy of Empire for $11.59 here!

Yeah, that was a killer album that got lots of rotation back in the day. I saw Queensryche when they toured with Dream Theater back in 2003. Needless to say it was a phenomenal show with both bands playing at the top of their game.

Here’s another one of my favs from a different album, namely, “Take Hold of the Flame”. This copy isn’t the greatest but Tate and LaBrie are superb.

Also have to include this classic Pink Floyd cover again. It never gets old.

And here’s another Queensryche classic that shows Tate’s range, “Eyes of a Stranger”.

Well, it looks like I’m gonna be groovin to some Queensryche for a while! :-)

Good stuff! Would have loved to catch them together.

Wes was a Queensryche fan back in his headbanger days. We have a CD somewhere. Can’t recall which one. Not really my type of music, but Tate does have a great voice. Didn’t he have opera training?
