New York City’s Marcy Playground is…for lack of better words, different. A sort of stripped down and softer version of Nirvana if you will. I discovered them quite by accident, and really liked what I heard. You might call them “Nirvana Light” but that would be selling them short. There’s more substance to these guys.
Although from NYC they definitely have that Seattle thing going on (lead vocal and guitarist John Wozniak attended The Evergreen State College here in Olympia WA for 2 years, hence the influence).
The following 2 clips are from their 1997 self-titled debut album. It’s the only record of theirs that I have listened to, but it’s a very good one. Enjoy, and Turn It up!
