Turn It Up Tuesday!

October 2, 2012 by esarsea

Here’s a one-hour “Southern Rock” documentary that appeared on the BBC featuring the Allman Bros, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker Band and 38 Special (although focused primarily on the Allmans and Skynyrd).

I know these stories have been told countless times on programs such as VH1’s “Behind The Music” but this is one of the better ones I’ve seen, and its scope is a little broader – including the sociological and political climate of the South in the late 60’s and early to mid 70’s, and the impact Southern Rock had on it.

Thabnks for the link. Haven’t gotten through the whole thing yet, but i just checked out this new Lynyrd Skynyrd song today and wanted to share the link http://jamplify.com/7mx3Y0 . The first thing that went thru my head was it sounds like Nickelback or something…. going to give it another listen but curious what others have to say.

Also i saw some of a concert on palladia channel by Blackberry Smoke. I really dug it.

I agree, it does have a little of that Nickelback vibe in places. Gary Rossington is the only original member left, so I guess it’s no surprise they are sounding a little different when they put out something new. Hard to believe that next year it will have been 40 years since their first album, “Pronounced” was released.
