I don’t know. I reblogged this piece after reading the text but before watching the video. While it may not be illegal to open carry a rifle in Texas, it’s not unreasonable for law enforcement to investigate a report of a man walking down the street with a weapon. While it may not have been handled perfectly, I can’t help but feel this guy’s rather confrontational and assertive attitude, bordering on almost aggressive demeanor, contributed to the situation.
Law enforcement deals with bad guys daily, and see a lot of stuff we don’t. It’s not out of line for them to disarm this guy in the process of investigating the report, and if he wasn’t soo bent on making his point it could have gone a lot different. When you’re walking down the street with a rifle and the cops show up, it’s time for “Yes Sir” and “No Sir” in my opinion. The cops don’t know this guy, and their first duty is to protect themselves and then the public. I think he talked himself into being arrested.
Well……….as annoying as he may be. If all he was doing was walking and they wanted to take his weapon….as he is stating. The cops blew it. Yes cops have been randomly killed and so have innocent citizens. Innocent citizens have also been brutally killed by police. I hate to say it but, I do not feel proper procedure was followed. They totally violated his rights. BAD bad deal all around.
The man arrested was done so because the comp had an attitude. It is perfectly legal to carry a rifle while on a hunt with your son on a boy scout project. The cops behavior could have well resulted in him getting shot. My take the guy arrested will have a serious lawsuit against the juresidicticton . He knew the Constitution and his God Given Rights well, the same could not be said for the police.
I totally agree on the Constitutional rights, not sure what GOD had to do with it. Somehow I can’t imagine Jesus walking around on a Boy Scout project “hunting” with an assault rifle. Although in this country it would be his constitutional right to do so.

A bit more food for thought. Again, let me say I support his rights.
