Born in Washington D.C, raised in California and currently residing in Carson City, Nevada, I find this country beautiful and its liberties uniquely special when viewed from a worldly perspective.
Music has always been a part of my life. Raised by two jazz musicians, I began playing drums at the age of 12. My father played trombone and sat in with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. He always had his Revere reel to reel tape recorder going and bootlegs of his various gigs were commonly heard when I was young. Music is what brought the three of us together here on the blog as we all were blown away by Joe Bonamassa’s early sound and consequently met on his forum.
I’ve always had a great appreciation of nature and the great outdoors. Since I was very young, we’ve always headed off the beaten trail to some of the most remote and beautiful places in the western U.S. Today, I still strive to find new, unknown places with the kind of beauty and solitude guaranteed to renew the soul and recharge the batteries.
I took my love of the beautiful outdoors and found an artful calling in the picture framing industry in which I worked for 28 years either managing or finally as the owner for 10 years of a very large custom wholesale picture framing business in the bay area. Eventually I tired of the “rat-race”, sold the business and moved to Carson City in 2004 where I’m currently, happily employed in the natural gas industry.
Hobbies include making my wife and soul mate Vivian smile, astronomy, meteorology, geology, photography, music, off-roading, bird watching and just about anything that gets me outside except for shoveling snow.
Eventually, Vivian and I would like to retire on a warm tropical island where I might take up a new career as a professional beach bum, metal detector in one hand and a Mai Tai in the other.
